50 Christmas Stocking Stuffer Ideas

50 Christmas Stocking Stuffer Ideas Everyone Will Actually Use
Stockings are one of my favorite Christmas traditions. We fill stockings for everyone in our family, not just the kids, and it’s always fun finding little surprises to put inside.
But stocking stuffers can also become an easy way to spend money on little things nobody really needs. I would much rather fill a stocking with a mixture of practical items, favorite treats, and a few fun surprises that I know the person will actually enjoy.
And stocking stuffers don’t have to be expensive. Some of the best ideas are everyday things you would probably buy anyway, just presented in a more fun way on Christmas morning.
If you’re wondering what to put in Christmas stockings this year, here are 50 stocking stuffer ideas for kids, teens, and adults.

7. Chocolate
A favorite chocolate bar, chocolate truffles, or another special treat is an easy stocking filler that will actually get used.
8. Gum or Mints
These aren’t exciting, but that’s part of the fun of stockings. Everyday items can become little Christmas treats when they’re tucked inside.

Seed packets are inexpensive, take up almost no room, and give gardeners something to look forward to after winter.
Choose flowers, herbs, or vegetables you know they would enjoy growing.
47. Small Craft Supplies
For someone who loves making things, add supplies related to their favorite hobby—embroidery thread, crochet hooks, washi tape, paint brushes, or other small craft items.
48. Car Accessories
Small car items can make practical adult stocking stuffers. Think about a car phone charger, microfiber cloth, tire gauge, air freshener, or other little item they’ll actually use.
49. Lottery Scratchers
For adults, a few lottery scratchers can be a fun little Christmas morning surprise.
50. An Experience
Not every stocking stuffer needs to be physical item.
Slip in a handwritten coupon or ticket for something you can do together: a movie, coffee date, ice cream trip, mini golf, special outing, or even letting your child choose a family activity.
This can be especially nice if you’re trying to give fewer physical gifts at Christmas.
How to Choose Stocking Stuffers Without Creating More Clutter
One thing I’ve become much more aware of over the years is how easy it is to buy things simply because they’re inexpensive and fit inside a stocking.
But cheap little gifts aren’t a bargain if nobody actually wants or uses them.
I like to think about stocking stuffers in a few simple categories: something useful, something to eat, something fun, and maybe one little surprise.
You can also use stockings as an opportunity to replace everyday items that are wearing out. New socks, art supplies, toiletries, charging cords, pens, hair accessories, and other necessities can still feel special when they’re wrapped up for Christmas.
And don’t feel as though you need to stuff the stocking until it’s overflowing.
A few thoughtful things someone will actually use are better than filling it with lots of little items just to have more to open.
Simple Stocking Stuffers Can Be the Best Ones
You don’t have to spend a lot of money to put together a fun Christmas stocking.
Think about the person you’re shopping for, what they use every day, their hobbies, their favorite treats, and the little things they might enjoy but wouldn’t necessarily buy for themselves.
Some of our favorite stocking stuffers are the simplest.
And when everything inside is useful, consumable, or something the person genuinely enjoys, you can keep the fun tradition of Christmas stockings without bringing unnecessary clutter into your home.
