Simple Fall Decor – Fall Bucket List

There are so many fun things to do in Fall.  Here are some ways we like to enjoy everything Fall has to offer.

Fall Home Decor

Simple home decor is the way to go for our family, this Fall I decided to keep everything neutral and natural.  I found some mini pumpkins and gourds from Trader Joes.  I grouped these pumpkins along side some fresh house plants I got from Ikea.  What I like about using real pumpkins to decorate is they are not a decoration that you have to save all year long.  I kept my decorations in the dining room and living room because those are the rooms we use the most.  Fall is my favorite time of the year, I love seeing the leaves changing colors and feeling the temperature drop.  I think we naturally like to decorate our homes starting in the Fall because it is starting to cool down and we are spending more time inside.

Pumpkin Patch

Every year we like to kick off Fall by visiting Tanaka Farms, a local farm that grows pumpkins.  They have a huge pumpkin patch where you can pick your own pumpkin and a huge corn maze to get lost in.  They also have tractors that the kids love to play on.  There is something magical about picking your own pumpkin from an actual patch.  When we visited this year my mom bought the kids some pumpkin decorating stickers, which is a great decorating option for children that are 4 and under.

Halloween

For Halloween we got dressed up and went trick or treating through our neighborhood.  This year Emmett was a fireman (again) and Calvin was the handed down race car driver.  Is it sad that my kids dress up as the same thing every year ? LOL!  I love that we were able to use the costumes we already had.  Getting creative with costumes is what Halloween is all about!  They each got to choose one piece of candy to have for desert.  I try to keep the daily sugar consumption to a minimum but I was willing to make an exception for Halloween.

Once Halloween was over I decided to go through my decorations and declutter what we didn’t end up using.  My taste in Halloween decor has matured.  I am not really into the cheap plastic decor anymore, so it was easy to see what I wanted to keep and what I no longer needed.  I find decluttering at the end of every holiday is the best way to keep my decorations under control.  Also decluttering decor when you are putting it away for the next year is an easy way to see what you used and what you no longer need.

Yummy Fall Food

Since the weather has finally started to cool down I find we are eating more comfort food, and I am getting into the baking spirit.  I have found myself making some delicious homemade chili and some homemade banana bread.  Nothing is better than a treat and some tea or coffee in the afternoon.

I was a Pre-K teacher and Fall was such a fun time for art! Take freshly fallen leaves and press between sheets of wax paper. Place in sunlit windows!
