LA County Fair
There is so much to see and do at the LA County Fair. From the beautiful gardens to the miniature trains, there is something for everyone.
Two weeks ago we visited the LA County Fair. First, we started out in the farm section to see all of the animals.
The fair has drastically improved the farm /animal section. In the past, I remember that horrible farm smell.
Well not anymore! It was fun to see all of the baby animals, plus my boys loved it. After we met all of the animals we headed to the garden area.
The sheep kept looking at me, they were probably wondering why I was taking their picture LOL.

Gardens – LA County Fair
The gardens are amazing and the nice thing is there weren’t any crowds in that area. There is a huge variety of fruits and vegetables.
We walked through all the vegetables and my kids got to see what the vegetables they eat look like growing. We made it a game to try and guess what all the vegetables were.
This gave me a lot of inspiration for my own garden. The garden ends in a beer garden, what a coincidence! Check out the garden and after that enjoy the beer garden.
Trains – Garden Railroad
The best part of the fair is the miniature train exhibit. It looks like something you would see at Disney Land.
There is such attention to detail with the towns and cities the train goes through. I have a 5-year-old and a 3-year-old and they both loved seeing the trains. They said it was their favorite thing.
The trains go around and you can follow them through the village.
La County Fair Food
There is a lot to choose from when it comes to food. We decided to try a Dole Whip, and it was worth it.
Between the four of us, we shared 2 whips.
They are quite large and very sweet, it’s the perfect thing on a hot day.
The dole whip is amazing and it is nondairy!
LA County Fair Tips
- Bring water so you stay hydrated. This time of the year it can be very hot in California.
- Sunscreen is a must because there isn’t a lot of shade.
- Hats are also a good idea.
- I have a 5-year-old and a 3-year-old and we brought strollers. Strollers are a great idea for a full day at the fair. This is a large area to walk for a little kid.
- Snacks! We brought a few snacks because fair food can get expensive.
- It will be hot, so plan what you want to see and conserve your energy.
- Wear comfortable shoes!
The fair is such a fun place for kids to run around, even if you don’t like rides, there is plenty to do.
If you like to take pictures there at a ton of these funny paintings to stick your face in. This could be your next Christmas card!
These metal bins with flowers gave me so much inspiration for my own garden at home.
We always have fun at the fair, but this year seemed better than ever. Exhibits, Animals, Trains, Food, and rides there is something for everyone.
