Watch 30 Ways to Spring Clean:
1 Scrub Trash Cans
Trashcans seem to be the source of all the bad smells in most homes. Giving the trashcan a really good scrub will make your whole home smell better.
2 Clean Out Crumbs from Drawers
As we cook and put utensils away it is inevitable that crumbs will drop into our kitchen drawers.
Taking everything out and either vacuuming the crumbs or wiping them out is a very satisfying cleaning job.
3 Clean Cooktop
I put cleaning the cooktop on this list because although we clean this all the time, I wanted to give our kitchen a deep clean this spring.
Usually, we wipe down our cooktop daily, but every few weeks it’s good to take it all apart and clean all the mess from cooking.
4 Wipe Out Bathroom Cabinets
Simply dusting out the cabinet makes it look so much better.
5 Wash Make-up Brushes
Make-up brushes can hold a lot of bacteria that we are putting on our faces. Every few weeks I like to take a little soap and water and rinse out my face make-up brush.
Then I just let it air dry on a washcloth.
6 Wipe down Outdoor Furniture
As the weather warms up we are outside more and more. Dusting off the patio furniture and getting it all set up for the warmer weather is always on my list.
7 Freshen Drains
Pour some vinegar down the drain and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then rinse the sink with water. This will help break up anything causing a smell in your pipes.
8 Remove Hard Water From Showerhead
Fill a bowl with vinegar and then set your removable showerhead into the bowl. Let this soak for about 15 to 20 minutes.
The vinegar will eat away at the hardware deposits. If you don’t have a removable shower head then you can use a plastic baggie filled with vinegar tied around the showerhead.
9 Vacuum Furniture
Vacuuming furniture will help it to look newer and pick up all those crumbs. Especially on the couch!
I love my Dyson vacuum! Here is a link to the one I have had for about 6 years.

10 Wipe Down lightswitches
It is always surprising how much dirt collects on light switches especially when you have little kids.
Wiping them down it also helps to get rid of germs and stop colds.
11 Clean off shelves
Normally I dust around things that are on my shelves, but for spring cleaning I will take everything off and dust really good.
12 Dust Corners
I have a long duster that I love for reaching high corners in my home. Most ceilings are overlooked when cleaning so this is the time to get all the cobwebs.
13 Replace Air filters
Replacing air filters helps the heater and air conditioner work better and can lower your energy bill.
We had just done some home construction and I should have replaced my filter months ago because it was filled with dust.
14 Wipe Off House Plants
House plants collect a lot of dust and when they are wiped off they look nicer and they grow better.
15 Wash Pillows and Bedding
Clean bedding makes our bedroom smell so fresh and looks so much fluffier.
16 Clean Mirrors

I like to gather all my receipts and save what I need.

24 Freshen Your Kitchen Sink
Freshen up your sink using baking soda and a lemon. Cut the lemon in half.
Sprinkle some baking soda in your sink and squeeze the lemon into the baking soda. Now use the lemon to push the baking soda around your sink.
This will get rid of some of the dirt or grime but it will also freshen your sink and make it smell nice. Then simply rinse it away.
25 Steam Clean the Microwave
Pour about 1/2 a cup of vinegar and 1/2 a cup of water into a glass bowl. Add the juice of half a lemon. Now put this bowl into your microwave for about 2 minutes.
This will steam up and make it easier to wipe out the microwave.
26 Wash Reusable Grocery Bags
Every few months I like to go through all of my reusable grocery bags and make sure I still need all of them.
Once I have my keep pile of bags I will wash them in the washing machine like a normal load of laundry.
27 Wipe Down Base Boards
Wiping down baseboards is often forgotten. Simply wiping these down with a damp rag can make your home and paint look new again.
Here are the inexpensive rags that seem to catch the most dust.
28 Deep Clean the Fridge
Deep cleaning the fridge is a lot of work, but by doing this every few months my fridge looks and functions so much better.
29 Clean Floors
Cleaning floors is very obvious, but I like the reminder.
30 Scrub Kitchen Cabinets
Wiping down the kitchen cabinets is an easy but rewarding task. I usually spray an all-purpose spray on the rag and then wipe the high traffic areas.
Focused my attention on the handles and any obvious food spots.
Conclusion 30 Things to Spring Clean
I know some of these areas listed above are obvious, but hopefully, they inspire you and help you remember to clean them when you get the chance.
Cleaning can take a lot of time especially if you are doing a deep clean of your home. I like to spread out the cleaning projects over a month during spring. Good luck and happy cleaning!

Why is it so Hard to Declutter?
Great ideas, Shannon. We can all use a reminder of the “small” things that we could miss. A suggestion, when you clean the drains with vinegar, you can put a 1/2 c of baking soda down first, add 1/2 c of vinegar. After 5-10 minutes, pour boiling water down drain. Cleans & disinfects! 😉
All in all, you’ve made a comprehensive list for us. Thanks!
Thank you! I love this idea and I will try it out the next time I am cleaning.
